While this email has a lot of information packed into it, it does nothing to command\u00a0the attention of the reader.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of focusing on a painful problem that Marketo can solve, the first line of the email\u00a0tells the reader to go over an incredibly long list of product features\/stats that resembles the back of a Windows 8 installation package. \u00a0If the reader isn\u2019t immediately captivated in the first line\u00a0with enticing value,\u00a0they\u2019re probably not going to\u00a0<\/span>read through your huge list of bullet points.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why this email fails and got on \u201cThe Hall of Shame\u201d:<\/h3>\n

  1. Too many product specs and not enough focus<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. No strong value or clear benefits–-just a lot of jargon and a bunch of statistics without context<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The Call to Action lacks an incentive<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How to Fix This Cold Email:<\/h3>\n

    This email could be improved by starting with\u00a0<\/span>a more focused and captivating value proposition, then cementing it with a convincing statistic that provides an example of social proof.<\/span><\/p>\n
