Adding additional personalization beyond that will usually increase\u00a0your odds of getting a response\u00a0even more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But no matter how personalized your cold emails are, they still won\u2019t work if there\u2019s no benefit or reason for the reader to respond. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The above email asks for a meeting, either with the reader or another associate of the company,\u00a0<\/span><strong>three times<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, without ever taking into account the needs or priorities of the reader even once. \u00a0The sender fails to address \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s in it for the recipient<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, and instead focuses only on \u00a0\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s in it for me<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why this email fails and got on \u201cThe Hall of Shame\u201d:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pretty self-centered<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not personable or tailored to buyer persona (even admits to \u201ctaking a stab in the dark here,\u201d wow!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A lot of features, but no strong benefits for the reader<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bullet points! These make the email feel like mass marketing instead of a conversation. (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bullet points always perform worse on cold emails<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This email is all over the place, with no\u00a0focus on a single benefit or idea.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1789 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Self-Centered.png\" alt=\"Why Self-Centered Emails Don't Work\" width=\"468\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Self-Centered.png 468w, https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Self-Centered-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Self-Centered-300x300.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>How to Fix This Bad Cold Email:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start by scrapping the vague, impersonal opener. Instead, start with a captivating sentence or thoughtful question that is targeted to the reader\u2019s needs or pain points. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding more personalization would also go a long ways too. This doesn\u2019t necessarily mean having a lot of different \u201ccustom inserts\u201d for every prospect, but at least\u00a0they could try to focus their message on the prospect more instead of being all about \u201cKoalified Leads.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This email also needs to focus on one clear benefit so it can be more compelling and effective. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Have bad cold emails in your inbox?
