&#8230;talk about overwhelming! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This ugly cold email is an attempt at an extremely strange and confusing breakup email. \u00a0As you can see, i<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t wasn\u2019t even possible to fit this bad cold email&#8217;s screenshot\u00a0into a single image, which gives you a sense of how hard it was to read on mobile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through this ginormous photo affixed inside their email, Domo attacks my eyes with every available feature they\u2019ve got, without any attempt to give context as to who they are, what they&#8217;re talking about, or what they want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s even stranger is that this email starts with the sender mentioning he\u2019s previously reached out to me before, but this is the <strong>first and only email<\/strong> I ever got from him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He&#8217;s using a lazy tactic and I&#8217;m calling &#8220;BS.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who would want to respond to a salesperson who\u2019s taking such a thoughtless and self-focused approach?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why this email made it to the front of our queue for \u201cThe Hall of Shame:\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The image is HUGE, giving it an especially spammy image\/text ratio, dramatically increasing its chances it will wind up in spam<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s super challenging to read, physically and mentally&#8211;with how busy the image and text is, there\u2019s no way anyone could quickly glance and know what the heck is going on, or what the call to action is<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the image doesn\u2019t render properly, most of the email\u2019s information would be lost<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve caught the sender in a lie&#8211;they\u2019ve never contacted or interacted with the recipient before<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Markasspam.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2033\" src=\"https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Markasspam.jpg\" alt=\"don't be spammy like domo\" width=\"296\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Markasspam.jpg 400w, https:\/\/salesfolk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Markasspam-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>How to Fix This Bad Cold Email: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This strange attempt at a breakup email could be a lot better if they took out the eyesore of an image and replaced it with a link to a valuable resource (actionable content that\u2019s less promotional). This would make it much easier for the reader to understand what the salesperson\u2019s goal is, giving them much better chances of actually getting a response.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, that would be my advice for a breakup email, but this email was actually the first email that this sales guy at Domo sent me, unless all the ones before this just caught in spam.<\/p>\n<p><b>Have bad cold emails in your inbox?
