I was checking my inbox when I landed on an email template that really made me cringe. \ud83d\ude28<\/span><\/p>\n

The email in question was ripping off an email template I wrote <\/strong><\/span><\/span>at least 8 years ago<\/strong><\/span>. \ud83d\ude44 They even stole my subject line, “<\/span>quick question<\/b>.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once upon a time, this template worked really well for my client’s specific needs. It generated over a million dollars in sales revenue. However, it wasn’t made for everyone to <\/span>blindly steal and copy<\/b>. \ud83d\ude12\u00a0 \ud83e\udd21<\/span><\/p>\n

Why I\u00a0HATE publishing my email templates<\/h2>\n

I’ve been a B2B copywriter for more than a decade.\u00a0I’ve written more than 10,000 sales emails that made over a billion dollars in revenue for many major B2B SaaS companies.<\/span><\/p>\n

I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me to <\/span>send them my<\/b> “<\/span>best email templates” <\/b>over the years. After many requests from <\/span>Predictable Revenue<\/span><\/i>‘s Aaron Ross and <\/span>Hubspot<\/span><\/i>, I decided to publish some of the older templates my clients were no longer using.<\/span><\/p>\n

The content was extremely popular, and my blog post was Hubpsot’s most popular sales blog post for a very long time.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the end result was me <\/span>getting spammed with my very own email templates<\/b>. \ud83d\ude44 \ud83d\ude44 \ud83d\ude44 \ud83d\ude44\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That Hubspot blog post happened <\/span>more than 5 years ago<\/b><\/span>, and I\u2019m still getting these lazy copycats sending me a butchered version of my own email template.<\/span><\/p>\n

**HINT<\/b>: <\/span>It has NOTHING to do with the ethics of plagiarism, but rather the fact this is highly ineffective. An email template is only effective when it\u2019s personalized to your business\u2019 unique value proposition and the audience that you\u2019re selling to.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
